DiscountFence — Privacy Policy
DiscountFence ("the app") lets Shopify merchants refuse discount codes on carts that contain sale items, excluded products, or other lines they choose, without rebuilding the discounts they already have. This policy explains what data the app processes and why.
Data we process
The app reads the store's product catalogue — product id, handle, title, vendor, product type, tags, gift-card flag, price and compare-at price — and the store's collections. It needs this for two things: to fill the pickers in the rule editor, and to turn the tags and collections a merchant selects into the list of product ids its checkout function requires, because a Shopify Function cannot look tags or collections up while a cart is being priced.
The app stores the merchant's own configuration: the fences they create (conditions, the discount codes each fence covers, priority, and the message shown to a shopper when a code is refused), the product ids each tag or collection condition currently resolves to, and a short history of the configuration it published to the merchant's guard discount.
Data we do NOT collect
DiscountFence stores no customer personal data of any kind: no names, emails, addresses, payment details, order records, carts, checkouts or identifiers. The app does not hold the read_orders, read_all_orders or read_customers permissions, so Shopify never sends it that data. It does not target shoppers by customer tag or segment. It sets no cookies of its own and runs no tracking.
The checkout function itself runs inside Shopify. It receives the cart it is pricing, decides whether a code is refused, and returns that decision. It has no network access, it sends nothing back to us, and no cart or checkout data ever leaves Shopify.
What we write to your store
One automatic discount named "DiscountFence Guard", which carries the app's function and its configuration. It never applies a discount of its own. The app never modifies your products and never modifies any discount you created.
Data retention and deletion
Publish history is capped at the twenty most recent entries and pruned automatically. Uninstalling the app switches every fence off immediately, and Shopify removes the guard discount along with the app. All stored data for the shop is permanently deleted in response to Shopify's shop redaction webhook. A merchant can request deletion sooner by email.
Third parties
None. Data is not sold, shared, or sent anywhere outside the app's own server and Shopify.
